AI and learning

The course follows university’s general instructions on using AI, i.e.:

  • The use of AI applications is generally allowed.

  • If you have used an AI application in an assignment, this must always be reported in detail:

    • name and version of the tool

    • purpose of use and the part in which it was used.

On this course, the above things concerns mainly projects, since other exercises use only automated tests. Projects, instead, are also evaluated by assistants, and thus, you need report the above things. You write them as comments in your code.

Note that usually the code generated by AI does not follow good programming style that is required in project code.

Learning goals

Hopefully you goal is to learn the content of the course well enough to be able to continue to next programming courses, not only to pass the course.

You should be careful with AI: you cannot learn if you just ask AI to produce the whole program code. On the other hand, AI can help you learn, if you, for example, ask more detailed questions concerning an exercise, or ask examples on a certain topic.

Your knowledge will be evaluated in the exam, which is mandatory, and there you cannot use AI. You must also know the content of the course to be able to continue to next programming courses (Programming 3: Interfaces and Data structures and algorithms 1). Taking these later programming courses will be impossible, if you miss the basic knowledge about C++.
